UOW Malaysia KDU is part of the University of Wollongong Australia’s global network, but has a long history of providing accessible, quality, tertiary education to Malaysia, and the surrounding regions, as KDU college and university colleges. University of Wollongong Australia (UOW) is a top 1 percent university and is ranked 196th in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2021). UOW is ranked 14th in the world – QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings 2021. In addition to Malaysia, the University of Wollongong’s global network extends to campuses in Australia, Dubai and Hong Kong.
In November 2018, KDU entered into an agreement whereby UOW Global Enterprises, a wholly-owned subsidiary of University of Wollongong Australia, would acquire a controlling stake in the KDU university colleges and college. Subsequently, in November 2019, the name of the college and university colleges were changed to reflect the stewardship of the University of Wollongong and are now known as UOW Malaysia KDU. The UOW Malaysia KDU college and university colleges now form an integral part of the University Wollongong Australia global network.
Established in 1983, and a pioneer in Malaysian private education, UOW Malaysia KDU was one of the first private colleges in Malaysia to have its own purpose-built campus. In January 2015, UOW Malaysia KDU University College moved to its new flagship campus at Utropolis Glenmarie, with its state-of-the-art facilities and a contemporary teaching and learning environment. UOW Malaysia KDU University College offers a wide range of programs at Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters levels, and has introduced home-grown degree programs that are at the forefront of growing industries, reflecting its promise of being a real-world university meeting real-world needs. These include hospitality, tourism and culinary arts, game development and computing, communications and creative arts, business, as well as engineering.
Our second Campus, UOW Malaysia KDU George Town, Penang is the leading private tertiary institution on Penang island and in the north region, with a particular reputation for hospitality and communication programmes, a focus of the education journey at this campus is the range of experiential learning opportunities that is available.
UOW Malaysia KDU, Batu Kawan, Penang is the newest campus in the UOW Malaysia KDU network, this internationally styled campus is located adjacent to the Penang innovation and technology hub, with a focus on computing and technology programmes. There is a prominence of industry 4.0 embedded into the curriculum to ensure students are future-ready.
